Стихотворение посвящено одной из самых красивых и умных женщин высшего общества в Санкт-Петербурге, Александре Смирновой-Россет. Она была очень образованной женщиной, посещала литературные салоны Петербурга и была близким другом Пушкина, Вяземского, Лермонтова и Гоголя. Пушкин и Вяземский также посвящали ей стихи. Позже она написала мемуары, в которых она подробно описала светскую и литературную жизнь девятнадцатого века в Санкт-Петербурге.

This poem is dedicated to one of the most beautiful and intelligent women of St. Petersburg high society Alexandra Smirnova –Rosset. Alexandra was a highly educated woman who frequented literary circles of St.Petersburg and became a close friend of Pushkin, Vyazemsky, Lermontov and Gogol. Pushkin and Vyazemsky also dedicated their poems to her. She later wrote her memoirs describing nineteenth-century life in St.Petersburg.

  1. Write down all personal pronouns in the poem and indicate the cases used in each instance.

  2. Preposition «без» means “without” and requires Genitive Case. Preposition «при» here means “in the presence of “ and is followed by Prepositional Case. Be a poet and write a sentence of your own using «при» and «без».
